Instructions
[System 8 or higher]
Please
print this page out for future reference. Before you begin
the setup of your computer for DSL, please make sure you have
the following information ready.
- IP Address
- Subnet mask
- Default Gateway
- E-mail address
- username
- password
Configure Network Card and Browser
1. Click on Apple Control Panel --> TCP/IP
2. Select Connect via Ethernet built-in
3. Select Configure Manually
4. Enter your assigned IP address
and Subnet mask
6. Enter your assigned Default
Gateway in the box labeled Router address
8. Click on the tab labeled DNS Configuration
9. Enter the Name server addr box
10. Enter the second Name server addr box in the second line
11. Close the window
12. Click Yes to save changes
13. Open up Internet Explorer to browse the web
Configure
E-mail
1. Open up Outlook Express (Version 5 or above)
2. Click on Tools --> Accounts --> New
3. Enter your name as you would like it to be displayed
when people receive E-mail from you under Full Name. (Ex.
John Doe)
6. Select I already have an e-mail address that I would
like to use
and enter your Earthwave.com E-mail
address under E-mail address
7. Select POP as your incoming mail server type
from the selection box
8. Enter Incoming mail server
9. Enter Outgoing mail server
10. Enter your assigned username
under Account ID
11. Enter your assigned password
under password
11. Enter your E-mail address
under Account name
10. Click FINISH to save. Close the window
12. To check for new mail click Send/Recv
After you have configured the above 3 steps. You can browse
the web by opening up Internet Explorer and using your
new E-mail address by opening up Outlook Express
